The court sentenced the murderer of George Floyd to 22.5 years in prison

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was sentenced by a court to 22.5 years in prison for the murder of a black man George Floyd in May 2020. The footage of his death during detention was caught on video, they provoked a broad movement in defense of the rights of African Americans and against police violence.

During the arrest, the police pressed the black man with their knee, he told them: “I can't breathe.”

The jury found Chauvin guilty on April 20.

The prosecution asked for 30 years in prison for Chauvin.
