The European Commission has promised to introduce rules by December to encourage the abandonment of gas and called on European states to abandon fossil energy sources in favor of more environmentally friendly fuels. This was stated by the Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.
"Europe is moving towards decarbonization, and therefore fossil gas will definitely be replaced with biomethane or environmentally friendly hydrogen," Simson said.
According to her, by December 2021, a package of rules on the gas market will be presented, which will include incentive measures for the energy transition.
Simson believes that the crisis that is being observed in the European region is caused by a strong dependence on fossil resources. If the right measures are taken, it is possible to create conditions for energy security in a world with clean energy.
