Due to Hurricane Henry, a state of emergency has been declared in New York

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in the region due to the approaching Hurricane Henry, the governor's press service reports.

500 soldiers of the National Guard will be involved in the fight against the elements. The hurricane is expected to hit the state on Sunday. It will affect coastal areas, hitting storm gusts, heavy rains. Rampant bad weather can lead to widespread power outages.

“Governor Cuomo also asks President US Joe Biden to declare a state of emergency before the typhoon. This federal measure authorizes the Federal Emergency Management Agency to take protective measures in emergency situations, including direct federal assistance to New Yorkers after “Henry” and its consequences, “ the governor's press service said.

The state of emergency will affect a number of counties, including the Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, and Queens.

Earlier, the elements hit Haiti, where the elimination of the consequences of a devastating earthquake continues: tropical storm Grace came to the region. According to the US National Hurricane Center, 38 cm of precipitation fell in some areas during the day.
