Typhoon Lupit in southwestern Japan. Evacuation for 160 thousand residents announced

The evacuation was announced for 160 thousand residents in south-western Japan in connection with the passage of typhoon “Lupit”. About this informs channel NHK.

Thus, about 139 thousand inhabitants of the northern part of the island of Kyushu, six thousand Japanese in Fukuoka prefecture, about two thousand in Oita prefecture, and 13 thousand in Kagoshima prefecture were informed about evacuation.

It is noted that at present typhoon "Lupit" passes overland in the area of Makuradzaki settlement. The pressure in the center reaches 990 Hectopascals, and the wind speed accompanying it is estimated at 108 kilometers per hour. It is reported that up to 300 millimeters of precipitation may fall in a 24-hour period in the region. Residents are also warned of an increased threat of landslides and flooding.

Earlier in July, the specialists warned about another typhoon "Nepartak" which was also moving to the coast of Japan. According to them, this is the eighth strongest typhoon to form in the Pacific Ocean.
