Biden gave advice to Putin on relations with China

U.S. President Joe Biden, during a summit with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on June 16 in Geneva, suggested considering whether Russia should increase its dependence on China. This was stated by the Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States Victoria Nuland during a video conference at the forum in Bratislava Globsec 2021.

“The president clearly called for thinking about whether Russia needs to increase its dependence on China, given Beijing's plans on the world stage,” she said.

Nuland is currently in Brussels, where he plans to discuss the results of the Russia-US summit with partners in NATO and the European Union.

Earlier, China approved the Russian-American agreement to launch a dialogue on strategic stability.

The Presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin, and Joe Biden adopted a joint statement following the summit in Geneva, which states that in the near future both countries will launch a comprehensive, substantive, and energetic dialogue on strategic stability.
